Aneta Corsaut
Biography
Aneta Corsaut was an American actress who also worked as a writer. Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, she studied drama at Northwestern University and acting with Lee Strasberg before leaving school to pursue acting. She started performing in New York City in the mid-1950s, and in 1958 she made her film debut with Steve McQueen in The Blob (1958). On television, she played Irma Howell on Mrs. G. Goes to College from 1961 to 1962. She became best known for playing Helen Crump on The Andy Griffith Show from 1963 to 1968, a role she reprised in the spinoff Mayberry R.F.D. and in Return to Mayberry (1986) and The Andy Griffith Show Reunion (1993). Later roles included Judge Cynthia Justin on Matlock from 1991 to 1992, plus appearances on The Blue Knight, Adam-12, House Calls, and General Hospital. She also coauthored The Mystery Reader's Quiz Book.
