Alexander Morton

Alexander Morton was a Scottish actor who studied at London's Central School of Speech and Drama between 1965 and 1968. Born in Glasgow, he was well known for roles in leading drama series such as Taggart and Casualty, along with Second Sight, Between the Lines, and Minder. His best-known television role was Golly Mackenzie, the ghillie in Monarch of the Glen, which he played from 2000 to 2005 in all 64 episodes. Earlier he had regular appearances as Andy Semple in Take the High Road, and from 2012 to 2015 he played Billy Kennedy in River City, returning to that part in 2022. His film work included Croupier (1998), London to Brighton (2006), and Valhalla Rising (2009). On stage he was a founding member of Raindog Theatre Company and took leading roles there, including Macbeth and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. He also did radio, video game voice work, and narration.
