Plot summary
Jibin, Rivin, Niroop, Shijappan, Mukesh, Karikuttan and Soman share a rented house in Bangalore in 2007. Only Rivin and Karikuttan hold full-time jobs; Soman keeps trying out businesses, and the others are still looking for work. Jibin watches a group at a friend's place hold a séance over a Ouija board and decides the house could use the same pastime. Back home he substitutes a carrom board, and Rivin stays out of it on religious grounds. When the glass will not move on its own, Jibin and Shijappan push it, and the roommates settle on Anamika as the spirit's name. Word of the sessions spreads, and friends begin arriving with questions of their own.

- Romancham grew out of writer-director Jithu Madhavan's own college days: he lived with ten friends in Bengaluru around 2005–2007 as an aeronautical engineering student, and out of curiosity they played the Ouija board, which inspired the script.
- Most of Romancham's cast were not mainstream actors but were picked for their followings on Instagram Reels and web series, none of them chosen through an audition; Jithu Madhavan called Abin Bino, then working in Dubai, after seeing him play Naththu in the web series Othalanga Thuruth.
