Plot summary
In his latest bout, aging heavyweight Mountain Rivera takes a serious beating from a young up-and-comer, and a doctor will not clear him to fight again. Maish Rennick manages him and Army works as his cutman. Afterward, Ma Greeny and her thugs corner Maish: they lost money betting on the match and threaten his life if he does not repay them. Mountain looks for work and visits an employment agency, where he meets Grace Miller, a social worker who warms to him and promises to be in touch.
