Plot summary
Long-haired and thoughtful, Bo Lockley is a new kind of undercover detective with the New York City police department. He is handed a missing person case and told to find Patty Butler. What nobody tells him is that Patty is an officer herself, working under the alias Chicklet as the girlfriend of Thomas 'Stick' Henderson, a heroin dealer with ties to political radicals. The search is meant to back up her cover story, not to bring her in. Lockley trails her to a disco with help from Joey, and his presence there threatens her assignment, so she arranges to meet him the next morning.
