Plot summary
In 1970, Professor Norihasa Omori brought a camera into a hotel and filmed himself killing eleven guests and employees along with his own children before his own death, hoping to understand reincarnation. The footage vanished. Thirty-five years later, director Ikuo Matsumura plans a film about the killings and shoots it at the same hotel. Nagisa Sugiura, cast as Omori's daughter Chisato, is troubled by visions and nightmares of the slaughter, and finds an old camera of the kind Omori used. College student Yayoi Kinoshita, writing about cryptomnesia, meets Yuka Morita, an actress who auditioned for Matsumura's film and says she recalls a past life, showing a birthmark that resembles a strangling mark. Yayoi looks into the case and meets Ayumi Omori, the professor's widow, the only person who survived the hotel.
