Plot summary
Alex Dennison has spent a year since the death of Monica Welles, the leading lady of his Broadway play and the woman he was going to marry. The death was called a suicide, and he has never accepted that. He invites the cast and crew of that production back to the same theater, saying he wants them to read the mystery he has written, about a famous actress who is killed. The director Lloyd Andrews and the actor David Matthews are among those who come. As the reading moves forward, the cast hears its own encounters with Monica in the scenes.
