Plot summary
Dr. Aryan Kulshreshtha is an archaeologist with the Archaeological Survey of India, a believer in scientific facts and an atheist. With a team drawn from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Japan, he uncovers a large statue of a reclining Buddha and the treasure of Raja Dahir near the destroyed Buddhas of Bamyan, in Afghanistan. The treasure is later split between India and Pakistan in Islamabad. Aryan is then asked to write a report for the Supreme Court on how the Ram Setu formed naturally, in support of a government canal project. He agrees with reluctance and writes that the Ramayana is fiction, calling Rama's existence into question. Public outrage follows and he is suspended. A businessman, Indrakant, talks him into joining a research mission to the Ram Setu, alongside Dr. Sandra Rebello and Dr. Gabrielle.
