Trailer

Plot summary

Robert Toulon runs the Toulon Doll Hospital in California, and he and his daughter Alexandra have in their keeping the puppets of his ancestor André Toulon. On Christmas Eve, using an old formula and Robert's blood, they bring the puppets back to life. Erica Sharpe, who owns a toy factory, learns of their success and wants the formula for her own line of holiday toys, the Christmas Palls, which she intends to animate. She already has a set of demonic toys in her possession, and she has summoned the demon Bael. An attempt to steal the puppets fails and only damages them with fire, so Robert rebuilds them with new parts and weapons.

Cast

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys (2004)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Full Moon was already low on money and realized it couldn't afford the film on its own, so it approached the Sci-Fi Channel to co-finance and co-produce. After Sci-Fi paid its half of the budget, Full Moon couldn't contribute any funds and sold the film's rights entirely, losing creative control.
  • Courtney Joyner was brought in and rewrote the script entirely from scratch, because the Sci-Fi Channel saw the crossover as a possible pilot for a TV series. That plan fell through because Band's deal let him keep the rights to both series.
  • The role of Robert Toulon was first written as an older, "absent-minded professor" type, and Courtney Joyner had Fred Williard in mind for it. After Corey Feldman was cast, the script was slightly rewritten to fit his younger age.
  • Producer Jeff Franklin had already agreed to a December 2004 premiere when Band sold him the project, so the film was heavily rushed: pre-production began in June 2004 and a finished copy reached Sci-Fi Channel executives by November.
  • Both the Puppet Master and Demonic Toys characters were redesigned, because the original Puppet Master molds had been sold at auction and couldn't be recovered. Director Ted Nicolaou said the Demonic Toys were changed out of respect for Charles Band, who wasn't involved, rather than copy John Carl Buechler's designs.
