Plot summary
The Oil Factory, the praise team at a makeshift church in an Atlanta warehouse, gets booed off the stage at its first big competition for a set the crowd finds too tame. Months later, Sam, a Los Angeles singer-songwriter chasing stardom, is sent by her father Darius to live with relatives in Atlanta after a misdemeanor charge. Her aunt Liz, who works at Georgia State, offers to enroll her in the spring, and Sam refuses. After Sam and her cousin Jess crash a party for the rapper Ty and get caught, her aunt Liz and uncle Larry force Sam onto the Oil Factory as punishment for lying about the party. Sam starts reshaping the group's sound with the regionals in view.
