Plot summary
Ichiko Sakurai, thirty, carries her thinking as a panel of five figures who meet inside her head. Yoshida, who stands for her reasoning, leads the sessions and puts decisions to a vote. Ishibashi stands for her positive feelings, Ikeda for her negative ones, Hatoko for her impulses and Kishi for her memories. At a drinking party Ichiko meets Ryōichi Saotome, a man of twenty, and falls for him. Her thoughts turn chaotic as she tries to find her way through the misunderstandings between them. Whenever he is close, the five argue over what she ought to say or do. Ochi, an editor at a publishing company, shows an interest in her as well.
