Plot summary

Jake McCormick comes out of a coma after twelve years in a Los Angeles hospital, his muscles undamaged, and sees the dead. Spirits crowd him, some of them good and others evil, and he has no way to answer them. He leaves the hospital for the home of Elaine Libby, the nurse who looked after him. A year and three months on, he teams up with ghost hunters and meets Andrea Riley, a psychic. He wants her help in understanding what he sees. The two then go to a derelict house where, years before, a husband had slain his wife and their two children.
