Plainclothes (2025) on Netflix

Plot summary

Lucas Brennan works mall stings for a police department in 1990s upstate New York: he poses as a man seeking an encounter, then leads his targets to restrooms where other officers arrest them for indecent exposure. The work is treated as routine, but Lucas is drawn to men himself, and he is grieving his father, Gus, while his relationships with his family are strained. During one operation he lets Andrew Waters go instead of arresting him, then contacts him under the name Gus. Andrew is an older pastor, married with children, who insists the relationship stay brief and secret. Lucas grows attached, and Emily, his former fiancée, knows he is bisexual. Pressure to deliver arrests builds at work.
