Plot summary
After the vengeful heroin dealers she helped finger burn her out of her apartment, Claire Beaucage leaves Quebec for Toronto to find Billy Stuart, a photographer of some renown she spent one night with and who had invited her to visit him. She speaks only French and understands little English, so tracking him down is hard, and she does not find him straight away. While the police search for her, she keeps looking for Billy. A murder case and a case of mistaken identity draw her in, and Claire lands in the wrong place at the wrong moment more than once.
