Plot summary

Rafi photographs visitors on the streets of Mumbai and works long hours to clear an old family debt. His grandmother Dadi wants to see him married and keeps pressing him to settle down. To quiet her, Rafi shows her a picture of Miloni, a shy student from a middle-class family whom he once photographed. When Dadi insists on meeting the woman he says he has found, Rafi tracks Miloni down and asks her to pose as his fiancée. She agrees, and he introduces her to Dadi as Noorie. Their ages, cultures, status and economic backgrounds differ, and as the pretense goes on the two form a bond.
