Phil (2019) on Netflix

Plot summary

Phil is a divorced, middle-aged dentist who is mildly depressed. Michael Fisk, a published author, comes to his office for last-minute dental work on a referral from another dentist, and Phil is taken with his enthusiasm about the success of his book. Michael's college-aged daughter is due home soon. Phil sees the family at a local restaurant and follows them home, then trails Michael's car down a quiet country road, where he finds Michael dead in the woods and takes the shoes Michael had removed. After the funeral, Phil sleeps on the grave through a heavy rainstorm. Michael's wife, Alicia, finds him there the next morning and, mistaking him for Spyros, an old friend from Greece, takes him home to warm up. She mentions a bathroom Michael left unfinished, and Phil volunteers to help.
