Plot summary
In 1996, five friends attend a strict Catholic girls' school in Fort William, a town in the Scottish Highlands. A choir competition gives them the chance to leave the Highlands for Edinburgh, but drinking, partying and hooking up interest them far more than the singing. Orla is in recovery from leukemia, and she is determined to live her life to the fullest. Finnoula is the brainy one, and she is desperate to see life beyond her small town. Chell is a wild child who mourns her father. Manda is sharp-tongued and witty, and Kylah is a gifted musician with a rebellious streak.
