Plot summary
Ben Tyler teaches elementary school English in Toronto, and he has just been told that he has an aggressive cancer at its fourth and final stage, with treatment needed immediately. On the way home he passes an elderly man selling a 1973 Norton Commando, and he buys it, though his fiancée Samantha Pierce dislikes motorcycles. A message on the rim of his coffee cup tells him to Go West Young Man. He breaks the news of the cancer to Samantha along with his wish for a two-day ride on the motorcycle, and he asks her to come with him. She argues that he should begin treatment at once and refuses. He leaves Toronto alone.
