Plot summary
Gene York, a Virginia congressman, and his attorney wife Karen have tried and failed to have children, so they go to an orphanage run by nuns, where a nun named Sister Yvonne places a child with them. They name her Delia. Delia scratches Karen, and the preacher who oversees her baptism suffers a heart attack. Seven years later the Yorks take in a rottweiler they call Ryder, and Delia begins to show the traits of a violent and manipulative sociopath. Dr. Hastings, the family doctor, reports that she is going through puberty, and strange events gather around the girl. Gene is running for the Senate, and the Yorks hire Jo Thueson, a New Age practitioner, as a nanny.

- Producer Harvey Bernhard said the snake pit sequence used 24 venomous rattlesnakes, none of them defanged, and two snake wranglers who claimed they had agreed to be bitten for $5,000 a hit, with the antidote kept nearby. The on-screen biting was real: one snake bites a wrangler's arm.
- Shooting on location in Vancouver, British Columbia, was delayed when three of the worst blizzards in the city's history hit in rapid succession, and the shoot was plagued by mishaps: a stuntman crushed his knee missing his mark on a 15-foot fall, and the Psychic Fair fire effect set the entire set ablaze, sending a mushroom cloud over Vancouver.
- Dominique Othenin-Girard was hired to direct Omen IV: The Awakening but left after two weeks of filming, with producer Harvey Bernhard citing "creative differences", and Jorge Montesi was hired to replace him.
