Plot summary
Isidora and Enrique are an elderly couple, well into their eighties, who live on their own in a central apartment in Santiago, with their books, their art and their two cats. Isidora's memory has begun to fail. When the building's elevator breaks, the ten flights of stairs keep her at home. Her daughter Rosario comes to visit with her girlfriend Hugo and a proposal that would make the family rich, if the couple signs over the lease to the apartment. At the dinner table, Rosario studies her mother for any sign of senility while Isidora tries to keep her state hidden.
