Plot summary
On Middle Island, off Warrnambool, Emily Marsh counts the little penguins left after another fox attack, working alongside Zoe, Paul Watt and Jack Jones. Her estranged father, Swampy Marsh, keeps a barn of chickens and two dogs, Missy and the mischievous Oddball, who runs wild through town and damages an attraction Bradley Slater, Emily's love interest, is setting up. Nine-year-old Olivia Marsh, Swampy's granddaughter, dislikes Bradley. A court gives Oddball one final chance: enter the city again and he will be put down. When Swampy finds an injured penguin and Oddball drives off a fox, he sees a way to protect the colony, and Olivia names the penguin Pocket. They train the dog, and Olivia persuades Emily to holiday in Melbourne with Bradley.
