Plot summary
Derek Charles is a hard working man, employed as a asset manager in a private company. He is very happy with his beautiful wife, Sharon, and only son, and because of his hard work he just got a huge promotion. But suddenly he gets a temporary worker who is both attractive and smart, and Derek is understandably impressed with her and also finds himself physically drawn to her. However, this new girl is desperate to get close to him - at any cost.

- Producer William Packer showed the script to Beyoncé's talent agent, who suggested Beyoncé play Sharon. The producers fell in love with the idea: "once she suggested Beyoncé, nobody else could play the role."
- Beyoncé became interested in Obsessed because it was not focused on the music industry, and it was the first time she played a non-singer.
- Producer William Packer said Idris Elba and Zoe Saldaña were the favorite actors for their respective lead roles, saying they both brought "the right amount of depth and sex appeal" to the film.
