Plot summary
The filmmakers began production in 2017 and attended Ben Shapiro's September 14, 2017 speech at the University of California in Berkeley, a campus marked by civic protests and unrest. The documentary examines disruptions of campus speeches in the United States and incidents in Canada, among them the discipline Lindsay Shepherd faced at Wilfrid Laurier University for playing a class recording of a debate with Jordan Peterson, and Peterson's refusal to adopt gender-neutral language, which he calls compelled speech. At Evergreen State College in Washington state, the biology professor Bret Weinstein objected when students sought to require white staff and students to stay off campus for a Day of Absence. Comedians including Adam Carolla, Karith Foster and Tim Allen say at the Laugh Factory that campus audiences take offense too easily. The film also denounces censorship in China.
