Plot summary
A trip to Galveston for Jessie's 17th birthday is Angela's surprise for her best friend, bought with the money the two of them had put aside for rent. Both are high school dropouts who wait tables at a diner in South Texas and want more from their lives. Angela arranges extra diner shifts for the pair to replace what the trip cost. Their roommate Dustin, Jessie's older brother, spends his part of the rent on a drug sale he attempts with his friends, and the deal falls through. The next morning Tony, a friend of Dustin's, breaks into the house and takes an old TV, thinking Dustin took the drug money.
