Plot summary
Aboard a flight from Tomsk to Moscow in August 2020, the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny falls gravely ill, and an emergency landing brings him to a hospital in Omsk. He is put into a coma and evacuated two days later to the Charité hospital in Berlin, where five laboratories certified by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons confirm that a Novichok nerve agent was used against him. During his recovery, Navalny and the investigators around him, among them Maria Pevchikh of his Anti-Corruption Foundation and the journalist Christo Grozev, examine how the poisoning was carried out and who arranged it. The Kremlin denies involvement.
