Plot summary
Nana Osaki is a punk musician who wants to break into rock and roll. She moves to Tokyo hoping to make it big in music. Nana Komatsu, known as Hachi, is twenty and travels to the city to be with her boyfriend, Shoji Endo, and to start a new life with him. The two women, both named Nana, meet by chance on the overnight train to Tokyo. They are alike in name and age but differ in appearance, experience and manner, and they get along well on the journey. In Tokyo the pair decide to share a flat in the city.

- Mika Nakashima released the film's theme song "Glamorous Sky" under the name Nana starring Mika Nakashima, with Hyde writing the music and Nana author Ai Yazawa writing the lyrics. The single became Nakashima's first number one on the Oricon charts.
