Plot summary
Nana Osaki works hard for her band, Black Stones, while her roommate Nana Komatsu is caught between two men. Nana Komatsu is drawn both to Nobu, who plays guitar in Black Stones, and to Takumi, the bassist of the rival group Trapnest. The story picks up shortly after the first film, with Nana Komatsu's love life at its center. When Black Stones land a record deal and their popularity grows, the band takes up more of Nana Osaki's time. The two women, who share a name but not much else, try to keep their friendship from coming apart as the men in their lives pull them in different directions.

- Three actors from the previous Nana film did not return for Nana 2: Aoi Miyazaki declined to reprise the role of Nana Komatsu and was replaced by Yui Ichikawa, Ryuhei Matsuda declined the role of Ren and was replaced by Nobuo Kyo, and Kenichi Matsuyama was replaced as Shinichi Okazaki by Hongo Kanata.
- Yuna Ito, who released music as Reira, had the music video for her single "Truth" filmed in Scotland, and the footage was used as scenes of the film.
