Plot summary

Spencer Tunick is a photographer who asks strangers to undress and stand together in public view while he takes their picture. He sets out to visit all fifty states, putting out a call in each one for unpaid volunteers, not models, of every race and body size. Permits are often missing, and legal trouble follows; an attorney argues his side. Much of the work is logistics, finding a site and gathering enough people willing to undress outdoors. Volunteers explain what draws them to pose, some for the sake of the artistic project and some for their own reasons. Their accounts touch on American attitudes toward nudity, sexuality and body image.
