Plot summary
In 1963 in Ambajipeta, an orphan named Kishtayya is taken in by his friend Anji's family, and the two grow up as brothers. The village leader Peddayya clears the debt left by Anji's mother, and Kishtayya becomes loyal to him. Years later, in 1988, Kishtayya lives with Anji and Anji's wife Manga, still unmarried, and still hoping to marry Varalu, the daughter of the creditor Varadaraju, who sent her away to Madras and opposes the match. Varalu manages her father's businesses and returns his feelings but will not accept his proposal. Before the Bhogi festival, goons from the neighboring village attack Kishtayya's friend Bhaskar, and Peddayya asks Kishtayya and Anji to protect him, which brings them up against the rival president Veerabhadrudu, who refuses to let Bhaskar marry his daughter Kumari.
