Plot summary
Eleven children live with Susan Tom in Fairfield, California; she adopted all of them, and most had been given up by their birth families because of mental or physical disabilities. The documentary covers a year in the house, from Halloween to the summer that follows. Faith, badly burned as a baby in a crib fire, believes that surgery will one day make her look like other people. Xenia was born without legs. Joe has cystic fibrosis, and Anthony has recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. Margaret, who has no severe disability, helps her mother, and six more children live in the house.
