Plot summary
Audrey Mathis is a music student at a large Midwestern college, with her sights set on a classical career. That ambition makes her the misfit in a family of outrageous performers. Her mother, Ester, and father, Terrell, sang in the 1970s funk, soul and R&B group The Neighborhood Gang. Her brother Damian is a famous rap producer, and her sister Tangy is a rapper turned singer. Audrey is disdainful of the egos and the trappings of pop entertainment, so she hides her clan from Rodney Meeks, the new man in her life. Her family then shows up on campus for a visit.
