Plot summary

Rin is an unassuming student at a high school where other students bully her. One day, while she is being tormented, a sharp pain shoots through her hand, and she later learns what it means: on her father's side she carries the blood of the ancient Hiruko clan, mutants gifted with superpowers. Her sixteenth birthday brings that discovery. Soldiers who hunt the Hiruko raid her house, kill her parents, and Rin barely escapes. She meets Rei, another mutant, who introduces her to a small group of mutant rebels. Their leader is Kisaragi, a transvestite samurai set on restoring the Hiruko clan. Kisaragi and Rei put Rin through training, and an iron mask covers her face until she can control her powers.
