Plot summary
Julija spends her days swimming and spearfishing off the remote Adriatic island where she lives with her parents, Ante and Nela. Her father rules the household, and a weekend visit from his old friend Javier, a wealthy outsider, is meant to settle a deal: Ante wants Javier to buy the family land and build a resort on it. Julija watches the preparations with little interest and slips away to the sea. She urges her mother to take up with Javier and leave Ante behind, and Nela refuses, doubting that Javier will give them a second thought once he flies home.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Murina (2021)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Cinematographer Hélène Louvart had never filmed underwater before Murina; she scouted locations and consulted camera operator Zoran Mikincic, an underwater filming specialist, while LED lights set the colour of the underwater scenes and black fabric controlled ambient sunlight.
- Not every scene of Murina was shot on location: some were filmed in a studio or in a pool, a choice the production made for safety reasons.
