Plot summary
George Matthews, a 26-year-old unemployed architect in Los Angeles, is in debt and about to lose his car. His girlfriend Gloria is tired of him. While he tries to borrow money from friends, he spots a striking foreign woman driving a white car and follows the car to a house in the hills. Later he sees her enter a model shop, a studio where customers photograph models, and he books a session. She shows no interest in him. A phone call to his parents brings news that he has been drafted and must report for Army duty the following week. Obsessed, he returns to the model shop for another session, and she tells him her name is Lola, that she is French and unhappy, and that she is trying to earn enough to return to France.
