Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island (2022)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island originated from the 15th episode of Mobile Suit Gundam, which director Yoshiyuki Tomino said had so many mistakes that he wanted to skip it and never release it, largely because art director and character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko was hospitalized.
- Animator Atsushi Tamura worked on Cucuruz Doan's Island and the Netflix series Gamera Rebirth at the same time; this, along with director Hiroyuki Seshita's fondness for Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's work, especially Giant Gorg (1984), influenced the character design of the Gamera anime.
- Director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko noted that Shunsuke Takeuchi, the voice of the title character Cucuruz Doan, was cast so late that most of Tōru Furuya's lines as Amuro Ray had already been recorded.
