Plot summary
A young man's corpse turns up in a forest in the center of La Gomera, and the inquiry into his death ends with a local politician charged; a later judgment clears him. Three years on, Sergeant Bevilaqua and Corporal Chamorro of the Civil Guard travel to the island to reopen the case. The last person known to have seen the dead man, Iván, alive is Corporal Ruth Anglada, who is stationed there. She returned to her birthplace on La Gomera some years earlier, after serving in Afghanistan. She accompanies the two officers during their stay, and they set about retracing the events that led to Iván's death.
