Trailer

Plot summary

In Northern California, shop owner Harry Grimbridge is chased by men in suits and collapses at a store, clutching a jack-o'-lantern mask. He is admitted to a hospital under Dr. Daniel Challis, whose relationship with his ex-wife Linda is strained. That night a suited man kills Harry in his bed and burns himself up in his car. Harry's daughter Ellie tells Daniel her father had been frightened since he began asking where the Silver Shamrock masks come from, and that the company is taking no orders for the next year, even though its masks are the best sellers. The two drive to Santa Mira, the rural factory town that makes them, and check into a motel where Harry recently stayed.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Nigel Kneale wrote the original script, but Dino De Laurentiis, who owned the film's distribution rights, did not care for it and ordered more graphic violence and gore. The alterations displeased Kneale, and he requested that his name be removed from the credits.
  • Tommy Lee Wallace originally considered Fred MacMurray for Conal Cochran, the owner of Silver Shamrock and, in Kneale's original script, a 3,000-year-old demon; the Irish actor Dan O'Herlihy was ultimately cast in the part.
  • The masks from Halloween III appear as easter eggs in the films Livide, The Guest, Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills, and Livide also briefly features the Silver Shamrock jingle.
  • The German speed metal group Helloween, which used Halloween-themed imagery, adapted the "Silver Shamrock" ditty from the film and used it as the introduction to "Starlight" on their 1985 debut full-length studio album Walls of Jericho.
