Plot summary
A team of scientists gives on-camera testimony about the remains of a sea creature tied to human origins, which they call a modern mermaid, and about a government cover-up that hides the creature from the public. Their account centers on marine biologist Dr Brian McCormick, who finds a recording of mysterious underwater sounds and sets out to identify the animal that made them. His research team travels to South Africa for a whale stranding, where it recovers partly digested remains that none of the scientists can place.
