Plot summary
Ricuccio and Giovanni are hunters who arrive in a mountain village in Abruzzo, drawn by a bounty of 20,000 lire paid for each wolf killed. The work takes them into the snow, where the wolves are dangerous. Ricuccio is taken with Teresa, and the fact that she is Giovanni's wife, mother of a young son, does not keep him from pursuing her. Their quarrel over her makes the hunting more dangerous than the animals alone.
