Plot summary
In Brazil to lecture on his specialty, memory, Taylor Briggs is asked to consult on a patient discovered deep in the Amazon. During the examination he is accidentally exposed to a hallucinatory drug, which unlocks memories that are not his own. They reach him as visions of vicious crimes, and he cannot say whose life they come from. His mother's own memory is failing, so she is in no position to help him trace his family history.
