Marmalade (2024) on Netflix

Plot summary

Baron is a kind-hearted young man in a small town, devoted to his mother Eda, who is terminally ill and loves Moon Pie snacks. He loses his job at the local post office because he refuses to cut his hair. Then he meets Marmalade, a young woman whose childhood in foster care was traumatic. The two grow close over shared vulnerabilities, and with Eda's medication to pay for, they plan to rob a bank and secure a future together. Baron ends up in prison, sharing a cell with Otis, an experienced escape artist. He offers Otis $250,000 for a successful escape and recounts his life's story. Otis is at first reluctant to help.
