Plot summary
Nick runs a New York nightclub called Static, and his foster brother Donny turns up there after a jail term for dancing without a permit on the streets of New Orleans. His parole officer, Foster, wants him in a real job. Nick is quarreling with his former partner Kaz, who has moved to a club backed by Michael Griffiths. Kaz's younger sister Aya leads an all-female percussion group and has three weeks to find steady work or she will be sent back to Japan. Michael's romantic interest in her gets no answer. Donny and Aya meet, and the quarrel between their brothers leaves them in conflicting loyalties.
