Plot summary
Madea's temper keeps her in and out of court. After a freeway chase, a judge orders her into an anger management course, and a later run-in at a store parking lot lands her in prison. In the same courthouse, assistant district attorney Joshua Hardaway is prosecuting Candace, a prostitute and drug addict he has known since childhood, and he asks his fiancée, fellow assistant district attorney Linda Davis, to handle the case for him. When Josh keeps helping Candace, even bringing her home, Linda grows jealous and warns him to cut the woman out of his life. In prison, Madea takes Candace under her wing and defends her from another inmate's advances.

- The film opened at number one with $41 million, the biggest Friday-to-Sunday take since Twilight, beating Madea's Family Reunion for the best weekend of any Tyler Perry film and Saw III's $33 million for the best weekend Lionsgate had ever had.
- It set off an unlikely children's film. Producer Kenn Viselman sat in a Madea audience where people were shouting advice at the screen, and that gave him the idea for the interactive 2012 film The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure.
