Plot summary
Budapest's eighth district, Józsefváros, is home to Hungarian, Roma, Chinese and Arab dwellers, along with their alliances and conflicts. Ricsi, a Roma boy, loves Julika, the daughter of the local Hungarian pimp. The feuding between their families is what a young Roma man sets out to end, traveling back in time to hunt mammoths so that Hungary will one day sit on a huge oil reservoir and grow rich. A few schoolchildren's oil-making time travel runs alongside the love story.
