Plot summary
During the final decades of the twentieth century, the Philippines gave low-budget exploitation filmmakers freedom to make almost any kind of picture. Labor rules were lax and cultural expression was met with a permissive attitude, so the country became a center for cheap genre production. This documentary gathers interviews with many of the directors, actors, screenwriters, and producers who worked on those films. It pairs their recollections with discussion of the movies themselves to trace how the Philippines became a hub for exploitation cinema. The film also considers the working conditions that made the productions possible and the range of titles produced.
