Plot summary

The documentary follows Al Sharpton through six decades of public life, beginning with his years as a young preacher and continuing through his campaigns for racial justice and his long presence in national media. It presents a man who has taken on fights over the status quo and never stepped away from them, while leaving room for the criticism that has followed him. Was he a troublemaker or an activist, someone chasing opportunity or a pioneer? The account moves between those poles and includes people from politics, civil rights and television commenting on the career and on the divisions it has caused.
