Plot summary
Word reaches a quiet farming town that Lola Igna, a centenarian who lives alone in a hut on her ricefield, could be named the world's oldest living grandmother. Journalists and tourists start arriving, and her granddaughter Nida sells merchandise tied to the attention while Igna sticks to her routine. When Igna is asked what she wants from life, she answers that she wants to die. One day she empties her urinal on a boy, Tim, who introduces himself as her great-grandson, the son of Ana, who left after a quarrel with Nida. He says he wants to reconnect with her and make a vlog. He learns farm work and helps her gather wood, which she says will be used for her coffin.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Lola Igna (2019)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Lola Igna was pulled from Cinemalaya twice: from the 2012 edition over script revisions demanded of the filmmaker by an international distributor and budget concerns, and from the 2017 edition after work halted when director Eduardo Roy Jr. fell ill.
- Eduardo Roy Jr. drew Lola Igna from his own relationship with his maternal great-grandmother, a Sagada resident who died at 80 in 2012. The film is a tribute imagining he had bonded more with her, and its protagonist who travels to Sagada represents Roy himself.
