Plot summary
Sporting history is written by its victors, and that leaves out everyone who was never allowed to take part in the game. A group of queer athletes gathers at the Olympic Stadium in Athens to honor the competitors who never stood on the winners' podium. Among the people they meet are Amanda Reiter, a trans marathon runner who faces the prejudices of sports organizers, and Annet Negesa, an 800m runner whom international sports federations urged to undergo hormone-altering surgery. Together the athletes build a radical poetic utopia of their own, far from the rigid gender rules that govern competitive sports.
