Plot summary
There has been too much untruth told about the Arkhangelsk region, says the eldest of the Pomor men gathered in a fisherman's hut once the boats are in for the evening. Senya Malina takes it upon himself to tell the whole truth, and begins with tall tales from the folklore of the Russian north. One tells of villagers who sell eternal icebergs and use them in place of boats, with polar bears working for them.

- The final segment, Ivan and Andrian, is based on a real carved epitaph found on a nameless island in the Arctic Ocean, recorded by the folklorist Boris Shergin. The film changes the name Ondriyan to Andrian and shortens the epitaph.
- The German merchant in the film has the Beatles' Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da as his theme, played on Russian folk instruments.
