Plot summary
Gilberto works as an optician and has grown unhappy in his marriage to Tiziana, a psychologist; their daughter Marta, an adolescent, has withdrawn both at home and at school. Gilberto turns up at a speed-dating evening, where strangers get three minutes to find a partner, and there he invents a story for himself: he says he is a widower. Among the odd characters he meets is Stella, who seems to return his interest, before the evening is cut short. The next day the police call him in along with the other participants, because Stella has gone missing. That is how Tiziana learns of his lie and his evening out, and she throws him out of the house. He finds a place to stay with his friend Andrea and Andrea's wife, Carlotta.
